HGAWADescription
Good ridge soaring site near Geraldton. Definitely NO ACCESS without clearance from the land owner via local pilots only. You MUST contact local pilots in Geraldton before heading up there to get access. If you haven't been here before, contact Cloudbase Paragliding Club or Hillflyers Club or other pilots with experience at the site. Preferably organise your first flight with a club member or local pilot who has good knowledge of this site. This site is privately owned, so is sensitive and could easily be lost. There is no problem with parking for lots of cars. No camping. Never access the property, even to just take a look, without having gained permission.
Flight
Take care at these sites with the conditions. The SE site is potentially dangerous in high wind. The back of the ridge is not that far away and if you do not have enough height you will have rotor to deal with. The potential for gusty thermals is high. Be in touch with the conditions. All these sites are good for sleddies and new top landings. Land away from the GPS and Communications gear near to take-off. 500ft-height restriction applies. Site is within the bounds of Geraldton airport and VHF must be carried and used above 500ft. Ridge drops steeply behind in places - large rotor. Bottom landing with easy retrieve is available. Avoid flying in south winds. It may appear ok at launch but the air above will be rough with minimal lift.
